A.    Definition of Ulum Al-Quran

Understanding Ulum Al-Quran as follows:

1.      The definition by language:

      The word "Ulum" in plural lafaz muktamad means understanding that tune the actual facts. While the definition of Al Quran is the word of God revealed to the prophet Muhammad mu'jiz written on mashaf, then delivered mutawaatir and read a synagogue.

      Ulum Al-Quran is the science of all sciences related to the Al-Quran.

2.      The definition according to the terms:

      Studies that discuss the Quran, both from the aspect of the decline, the reading, the history of its collection, compilation, writing and interpretation, I'jaz, nasikh mansukh, causes drops paragraph,'i'rab and Gharib al-Quran.

3.      Zarqani:
The sciences that studies of Al Qur'an itself, both in terms of the decline, it was collected, the books, the reading, pentafsirannya, I'jaznya, nasikh and mansukhnya and all matters related to the Al-Quran.

4.      Imam al-Suyuti:         
A field and scope of science that talk about Al Quran in terms of decline, sanadnya, adabnya, meaning, lafaznya and others related to it.

5.      His formulation:         
The phrase Ulum Al-Quran brings about understanding the actual meaning associated with Al-Quran which includes asbab al-Nuzul, Paragraph Makki and Madani, Al abrogated and Al-Mansukh, the way of reading, collection, writing and various aspects related to Al- Quran.

C.     Names Al-Qur'an           
      The Quran has many other names besides the name of the Al-Quran. However, the name of the famous and widely used is the Al-Quran. It is based on the Word of God:
سورة البقرة 2: اية 185

There are scholars believe the Al-Quran has 66 names, unisex Abu Al- Ma'li Azizi bin Abd Malik said the Al-Quran has 55 names in his book, namely Al-Burhan. And there are also scholars who say the Al-Quran has 90 names. However all the names according to the glory and sovereignty as a holy book rather than God S.W.T. Among the names of the Al-Quran are:

1.      Al-Furqan

The words of al-Furqan is one other name of al-Quran, as the Quran explain to people about the truth and falsehood. Therefore, al-Quran as a differentiator and the separation between the true doctrine with false teaching.

سورة الفرقان 25: اية 1          

Glory be to Allah that decreases Al-Furqaan to His servant (Muhammad), that He might be a warner to all the worlds.

2.      Al-Kitab

The words of the Book in Arabic with tanwin row at the end (kitabun) gives a general sense that a book that is not certain. When coupled with alif and lam in front of him to be (the Book) he has turned into a special (specific name says). In this connection, another name Al-Quran is the Book.

3.      Al- Mau'izah

Words Al-Mau'izah is another name of the Al-Quran. Because the Al-Quran contains teachings and warnings to mankind and \ nature, both in matters temporal and hereafter.
سورة يونس 10: اية 57
O people ! Now hath come unto you the Qur'an that a lesson from your Lord, and become healers for diseases that exist in the chest, and also a guidance and a mercy to those who believe.

4.      Ar-Rahmah

God named the Al-Quran with grace. Because the Al-Quran will engender faith and wisdom. For people who believe and cling to the Al-Quran, they would look for the good.
سورة يونس 10: اية 57
And We sent down with beransur-ansur of Al-Quran verses scripture into medicine and a mercy to those who believe in him; and (conversely) The Al-Quran does not add people who do wrong (because of their rebellion) but also losses.

5.      An-Nur

God guides outlined in the Al-Quran to be a light in life by removing humans from straying into the light of truth, of worship fellow humans be devoted solely to the Creator and of the narrowness of the world to the vastness of the world and the hereafter.

سورة النساء 4: اية 174

6.      Ar-Ruuha

Allah has named the revelation to His apostles as spirits. The nature spirits are turned something. As the human body without the spirit will die, rotten and useless. In this connection, the Qur'an is able to turn cautious who died so close to the Creator.
سورة الشورى 42: اية  
And so we have revealed to you (Muhammad) al-Quran as a spirit
(Which revive the heart) with our orders.      

7.      Ash-Syifaa '

Allah SWT has mensifatkan that the Al-Quran was revealed to mankind through the intermediary of the prophet Muhammad as a bidder and healer. When called antidote is certainly nothing to do with the disease. In Tafsir Ibn Kathir stated that Al-Quran is the healer of diseases that exist in the human heart as shirk, arrogant, bongkak, doubt and so forth.
سورة يونس 10: 57     
O people! Now hath come unto you the Al-Quran that became an admonition from your Lord, and be an antidote for the diseases of the mind that is in your chest, and also the guidance as instructions for safety, and to bring mercy to those who believe.

8.      Al-Bayaan

Al-Quran is a book that declare that the information and explanations to the people about what is good and bad for them. Explaining between the Truth and falsehood, true and false, the straight path and the wrong path. Besides Al-Quran also explains the stories of earlier people who never denied God's command and then heaped with a variety of unexpected doom.
سورة ال عمران 2: 138   
(Al-Quran) This is the illumination to all mankind, a guidance and instruction for those who (want to) fear Him.

9.      AL-Zikr

Allah SWT characterizes the Koran as adh-Dzikra (warning) because the actual Al-Quran was always gives a warning to humans because of the nature of forgetting who never cracked from humans. Human easy to forget in many ways, both in relation to God, human relations and are oblivious to the demands tututan are duly accomplished by humans. Therefore, faith groups who are required to accompany sentiasa Al-Quran. Aside from being a worship, the Al-Quran was always warned us to our responsibilities.

8 Knowing feature expert commentary in interpreting the verses of the Al-Quran.
9 Can interprets the Al-Quran properly.
